The Blueprint for OASIS Accuracy program is E X P A N D I N G.

A new version of OASIS is coming and OASIS Answers, Inc. is ready to support data collection education needs at the right time, and with the right information. As agencies prepare to make the 2010 transition to OASIS-C, the Blueprint for OASIS Accuracy workshop will serve as an ongoing source of reliable and authoritative training, always based on the latest guidance and resources from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

While it is important that home health agencies are aware of the expected changes, and making necessary reviews and analysis of operational issues, conducting detailed data collection education on OASIS-C before the data set is finalized and CMS-approved item-by-item instructions are available is not advised.

Based on timelines stated by CMS, starting Fall 2009, OASIS Answers, Inc. will expand the current Blueprint for OASIS Accuracy workshop from one day to two to offer effective, timely and comprehensive education necessary for the OASIS-C transition, and directed at the field data collectors and their supervisors.

This training will be based on the same "no opinions - just defendable CMS facts" approach that the industry has come to expect and trust from the OASIS Answers' Team. During the implementation of OASIS-C, a CMS-authorized answer to every question will likely not be immediately available. When no authorized answer exists, our team of OASIS experts knows it, and will not make up an answer to satisfy the audience. Rather than provide opinions, assumptions, or unfounded interpretations, the "Blueprint" presenters will provide up-to-the-minute education on what information IS available and what questions remain unanswered.

The OASIS Answers' team has presented the Blueprint for OASIS Accuracy workshop hundreds of times to nearly 20,000 attendees. Many return each time the program is offered in their area to refine their data collection skills and to stay current with newly released updates.

OASIS Answers remains committed to investing the necessary time, preparation and expertise to allow continued delivery of the highest quality and most preferred OASIS training available.

Join us in our commitment to enhancing OASIS accuracy by attending an upcoming workshop.

In many cases, the OASIS Certificate and Competency Board's COS-C (Certificate for OASIS Specialist-Clinical) examination will be administered the day following the Blueprint for OASIS Accuracy training. The scope of the COS-C exam includes CMS instructions related to the OASIS time points, regulations, patient populations and item specific scoring and always tests on guidance that is current as of the testing date. Candidates will not be tested on OASIS-C until its date of implementation, and until that time candidates will continue to be tested on current OASIS-B1 items and rules.
